Getting to the Congress Center Leipzig

Summit Help Desks at official hotels, the conference centre, Leipzig/Halle airport and Leipzig’s main train station are available to provide transport-related information and assist you with your transport needs. 

This is a low-carbon emissions event. Please consider travel options that minimise emission generation.

 

Free public transport within Leipzig City

Summit participants are offered unlimited free public transport within Leipzig from Monday 21 May to Friday 25 May inclusive. Your 2018 Summit delegate badge serves as your public transport ticket. Until you collect your badge at the Summit venue, the official registration confirmation letter will serve as proof of your registration. Please note that you may be asked to show supporting valid photo identification.

  • Tram (20 minutes ride, approx. 25 minutes in total)
    Take tram no. 16 from Leipzig’s main train station to "Messegelände" (this is the terminus as well as the stop for Congress Center Leipzig). Trams run every 10 minutes. From the tram stop, it is a short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the main entrance of the conference centre.
  • Suburban train (10 minutes ride, approx. 20 minutes in total)
    Take S-Bahn (rapid transit lines) S1, S2 or S5 from Leipzig’s main train station to "S-Bahnhof Messe" train station. Trains run every 15 minutes. From the train stop, it is a short walk (approx. 10 minutes) to the main entrance of the conference centre.

Organised shuttle bus service

A shuttle bus service will operate on a scheduled basis to/from designated stops in Leipzig city centre near the official summit hotels. This service is available from Tuesday 22 May to Friday 25 May as follows:

  • Arrivals at Leipzig/Halle airport to designated stops (Tuesday and Wednesday, all scheduled commercial flights will be covered)
     
  • Summit Days (Wednesday to Friday)
    • from designated stops to CCL in the mornings and early afternoon
    • return service from CCL to designated stops in the afternoons and evenings
       
  • Presidency Reception (Wednesday) direct service from the Congress Center Leipzig to the Kongresshalle am Zoo
     
  • Gala Dinner (Thursday) additional service from designated stops to CCL in late afternoon with return service from CCL to designated stops in the evening
     
  • Departures from Leipzig/Halle airport (Thursday and Friday, from designated stops in city centre to airport at scheduled times to meet flights taking off from Leipzig/Halle airport)
    • Shuttle buses will go direct to airport for early and mid-morning flight times
    • For all other flight times, shuttle buses will leave from designated stops in city centre, make a quick stop at CCL to collect air travelers, and then proceed to the airport

Notes:

  • Transfers by shuttle at arrival/departure are offered free of charge and can be booked during registration, via the Registration Help Desk or arranged at the Summit Information Desks. To book a transfer, travel details will be required.
  • Please note that arrangements can be made for wheelchair accessible vehicles. If this is needed by a member of your delegation, please indicate this during your registration or directly to the Registration Help Desk.


Other transportation options

  • Taxi (20 minutes)
    A taxi will take you to Congress Center Leipzig along the same route as the mini-bus shuttle. Please note that costs are not covered by the Summit organiser.
  • Car (20 minutes) 
    Congress Center Leipzig is located on the A14 motorway (Dresden-Magdebur-Hannover). To get there, take either the "Messegelände" or "Leipzig Zentrum" exit. From Leipzig’s city centre take Federal Road B2. Parking is available at the conference centre (address: Seehauener Allee 1, 04356 Leipzig).
