Stephen Perkins

Head of the Transport Research Centre, International Transport Forum

Stephen Perkins is the Head of the Transport Research Centre of the International Transport Forum at the OECD. The Transport Research Centre undertakes economic research in support of transport policy development. The Centre’s work covers all transport modes and most aspects of transport economics. Stephen’s work at the Forum has focussed on issues of regulation, competition, investment, pricing and taxation, congestion, environmental protection and road safety. His previous experience includes energy industry restructuring and regulation at the International Energy Agency, work on economic regulation for a major gas utility and consultancy on energy policy and environmental issues for government and industry. Road safety is an important part of the Centre’s work. It houses the IRTAD road safety database and regularly publishes reports on road safety policies. The latest reports include Zero Road Deaths and Serious Injuries: Leading a Paradigm Shift to a Safe System which encapsulates the leading edge approach to policy making in member countries, Cycling Safety an area of particular current concern and Speed and Crash Risk at the core of the Safe System.
